How We Work, and Why
At Consulting Controller Inc., we specialize in start-up
companies and businesses that operate without a Financial
Controller on their management teams. We bring our clients
an understanding of operations and the accounting process
from the managing accountant's perspective. We offer a specialized
expertise combining accounting, auditing, and investigative
skills; and general business consulting that transcends specific
industries.
We work virtually using technology such as GoToMeeting, or
on site in the clients' offices. We need to learn as much
as we can about the business and the owner(s) to enable us
to solve problems and provide practical and lasting solutions
and procedures customized to each client's needs. And of course,
in order to achieve the best and most enduring results, the
client needs to participate fully in this process.
Who we are
Mary Ann Wetzork, President of Consulting Controller Inc.,
developed her skills in accounting detective and rescue work
during more than 25 years of working with a variety of businesses
in both public and private accounting. In 1997 she formed
her own company to offer accounting and controllership services,
and general business consulting to small and start-up businesses.
Her extensive experience includes the ability to analyze
detailed, complicated and sometimes confused records and determine
the best way to correct them. Once corrected, Mary Ann takes
serious satisfaction in teaching her clients how to avoid
similar pitfalls in the future, empowering her clients through
independent understanding, rather than creating dependency.
Mary Ann is fluent in many types of accounting software,
spreadsheets, and word processing programs, including ACCPAC
for both DOS and Windows, QuickBooks and QuickBooks Pro and
Premier, Great Plains Dynamics, WordPerfect, and Microsoft
Word and Excel. She is a Certified QuickBooks Pro Advisor.
Her clients include both Apple and PC users. She is a licensed
consultant with the One Page Business Plan Company®.
Our Guiding Principles
- We believe that every business owner needs to have a record
keeping system that will provide correct, continuous, consistent,
current information on how the business is doing. In other
words, know where you are.
- The accounting system must follow basic accounting principles
(without being overly complicated), and should be set up
so that it is easy to use, maintain, and understand - customized
for the particular business.
- We believe that every business owner needs a written business
plan that contains objectives, strategies, and action plans
for at least one year that will guide them in the daily
managing of the business. In other words, know where
you are going.
- We believe that every business owner needs to be able
to maintain cash flow during fluctuating business cycles,
continue operations smoothly in the event of staff turnover,
and solve problems and shift policies and procedures in
time to make a difference. In other words, know how to
get there.
