How We Work, and Why
At Consulting Controller, we specialize in start-up companies and small businesses that operate without a controller on their management teams. We bring our clients an understanding of operations and the accounting process from the managing accountant's perspective, and offer a specialized expertise that transcends specific industries.
We work on site in the client's offices, because that is where the company business is conducted, and where the records are kept. We need to learn as much as we can about the business, and the owner(s) to enable us to solve problems and provide practical and lasting solutions and procedures customized to each client's needs. And of course, in order to achieve the best and most enduring results, the client needs to participate fully in this process.
Services include, but are not limited to:
- Designing and setting up customized accounting systems
- Accounting system conversions
- Clean-up, analysis, and correction of existing records
- Stabilization and restoration of timely operations
- Training of bookkeepers and administrative staff
- Financial forecasts and cash flow projections
- Development of business plans
- General business consulting
Our Guiding Principles
- We believe that every business owner needs to have a record keeping system that will provide correct, continuous, consistent, current information on how the business is doing. In other words, know where you are.
The accounting system must follow basic accounting principles (without being overly complicated), and should be set up so that it is easy to use, maintain, and understand - customized for the particular business.
- We believe that every business owner needs a written business plan that contains objectives, strategies, and action plans for at least one year that will guide them in the daily managing of the business. In other words, know where you are going.
- We believe that every business owner needs to be able to maintain cash flow during fluctuating business cycles, continue operations smoothly in the event of staff turnover, and solve problems and shift policies and procedures in time to make a difference. In other words, know how to get there.
